I've just been thinking of making a beastmaster pve ranger, which I've gone ahead and created, but I began to think what other skills from other professions would be good to increase my pet damage.

Obviously the recent pet updates have helped a lot and some beastmastery skills increase pet damage too, but what skills could be taken from other professions that I could use as my second profession?

I can only think of Barbs and does Strength of Honor work on a pet? They don't have a melee weapon but do they do melee damage? Sorry if that's obvious, but I'm not sure. How about Brutal Weapon - pets wouldn't benefit from that either would they?

What other skills could be used to increase pet damage? Can you help?

I whole heartedly recommend Great Dwarf Weapon. Making your pet able to cause knockdown while it's doing 100+ damage is awesome.

Brutal Weapon means no Strength of Honor or Great Dwarf Weapon, which makes your pet sad.

Ebon Battle Standard of Honor will work if the pet is inside it.

SoH isnt a weapon spell. You may use it with brutal.
If its raw damage you want then brutal if its a hero caster - great dwarf if its human.

i heard brutal doesn't like enchantments

Weapon Spell. (10...34...40 seconds.) Attacks deal +5...13...15 damage. No effect while target ally is enchanted.

SoH happens to be an enchantment. It's much better than Brutal Weapon as it happens. Use Great Dwarf Weapon for more damage than Brutal, unconditionally with a chance to KD. Mix that with Bestial Mauling, possibly Flourish for constant dazing.
